Shari Murer Obituary (1972

Lincoln resident Shari Ann Murer, 42, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shari Ann (Mathieu) Murer, was born on January 21, 1972 in Holdrege, Nebraska the daughter of Lewis and Sharron (Newstrom) Mathieu Jr. Growing up Shari enjoyed Tae Kwon Do and bowling. When she was 11 she and her mom were state winners in the State Family Doubles Bowling Tournament. They won a trip to Washington, DC where they represented Nebraska in the national tournament. She graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1990. Shari attended Joseph's College of Beauty and graduated with a cosmetology degree in 1991. She worked at Cost Cutters in Kearney for 8 years before her health kept her from working. Shari married David Murer on December 11, 2001 in Kearney, Nebraska. They had two sons. Shari had spent the last 4 years at Madonna Rehabilitation hospital, in Lincoln, after contracting the H1N1 Virus that left her on the vent. She was active as a volunteer and participated in several activities and outings such as playing cards, wii bowling, bingo, and chime choir, along with going to the Lincoln Zoo, shopping and fishing. The staff at Madonna made her stay pleasurable. She is survived by her mother, Sharron Mathieu; sister, Merilee Parks; brother, Will Mathieu all of Lincoln, Nebraska; niece Heidi Bussing and husband Jared; two great nieces, Wren Bussing, and Sophia Bussing; great nephew, Devin Bussing all of Omaha, Nebraska; husband, David Murer and sons Joseph and Zachary, all of Grand Island, Nebraska; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Shari was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Mathieu Jr.; grandparents, Lewis and Mary Aileen Mathieu Sr, and George and Maxine Newstrom; great aunt Dorothy French; and cousin, Jennifer Stewart. Graveside service at 11:00am, Thursday, March 13, 2013 at the Gothenburg Cemetery in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Viewing and visitation will be 2:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014 with family present from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Lincoln Family Funeral Care, 5844 Fremont St in Lincoln.
