Rodney E. Osler Obituary (1929

Hastings resident, Rodney E. Osler, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society Perkins Pavilion Hastings, Nebraska. Funeral service is 10:00 AM, Monday, March 18, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church in Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Eddie Goff officiating. Burial will be at the Juniata Cemetery in Juniata, NE with Military Honors provided by the Hastings Honor Guard. Visitation will from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 17, 2019, at DeWitt Funeral Home in Hastings, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Rodney was born in Hastings, Nebraska on August 19, 1929, the son of Vern and Irene (Woodward) Osler. He graduated from Kenesaw High School with the class of 1948. Rodney served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He married Marjorie Johnson in 1955, they later separated. Rodney married Vickie Bergeson, they later separated. He married Lorraine Mohlman on December 21, 2004, they lived at The Kensington for five years before her passing. Rodney worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company and other digging companies, including his own, before retiring from the City of Hastings Street Department after 17 years. Rodney is survived by his two children, Jim (Carla) Osler and Jacky (Dan) Bertz; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jo Osler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; son, Jerry; and siblings, Dorothy Edmondson, Eleanor Hall, Maxine Osler, Fern Odell, Vernon Osler, Harriet Phillips, and Grace Nutter.
