Richard 'Dick' L. Mcfeely Obituary (1928

Hastings resident Richard 'Dick' L. McFeely, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, NE. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In honoring his wishes to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation. Condolences can be left at www.dewittfuneral.com Dick McFeely was born September 1, 1928 in Grand Island, NE, the son of Roy and Josie Mae (King) McFeely. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School with the class of 1946 and from Hastings College in 1952. Dick served in the U.S. Navy. He served as the District Director of Boy Scouts from 1952-1954. He married Dorothy Whitefoot in 1950, they later divorced. Dick married Harriett Graham in 1982. He worked from 1955 to 1990 for the Chamber of Commerce in six Nebraska cities, Wahoo, Beatrice, Lincoln, Grand Island, Kearney & Lexington. Dick was the founder of The Grand Island Credit Bureau in the 1960's. He was a partner in CMS Productions in Grand Island, NE. Dick was instrumental in bringing Central Community College to Hastings, NE and was honored this year at the 50th Anniversary. Dick owned and operated Country Meadows, with his wife, on their acreage outside of Hastings, NE. Dick is survived by his wife, Harriett; and his children, Patricia Ann McFeely of Hastings, NE, Michael Roy McFeely of Oklahoma City, OK, Richard James McFeely of Plattsmouth, NE, and Sally Jo (Mike) Hunter of Mount Vernon, IA; step-children, Tani Ochs of Fremont, NE, Lisa Carey Hatch of Hastings, NE, and Kevin Carey of Grand Island, NE; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Lewis of Augusta, KS; along with numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, William, and Harvey; half-sister, Pauline Davison; step son, Tracy Carey; and step son-in-law, Chad Ochs.
