Opal D Spicknall Obituary (1951

Hastings resident Opal D. Spicknall, 66, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, Nebraska. Graveside service will be held at a later date. In honoring her wish to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Opal D. Spicknall was born April 10, 1951 in Washington, Kansas, the daughter of Albert Sr. and Bonnie (Smith) Schilling. She attended Hastings High School and received a diploma from Southeast Community College in Dietary Management. Opal married Kenney Spicknall July 28, 1988 in Red Cloud, Nebraska. She was the Dietary Manager at Grandview Manor in Campbell, Nebraska and at Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska. She enjoyed cooking and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Opal is survived her husband Kenney Spicknall of Hastings, NE; children, Melissa (Jerry) Hartman of Holstein, NE, and John Duncan of Grand Island, NE; five grandchildren, Chloe, Jayce, Addie, and Brady Hartman, and Nic Duncan; siblings, Bob Schilling of Hastings, NE, Kathy Schilling Memphis, TN, and Peggy Schifferns of Wymore, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ken Smith, Naomi Hurvey, Albert Schilling Jr., and Mona Flower.
