Milrae "Rae" L. Gartner Obituary (1929

Hastings resident Milrae "Rae" L. Gartner, 89, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska. Funeral service is 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 7 pm with family present from 5 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at DeWitt Funeral Home in Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to her family for a later designation. Milrae "Rae" L. Gartner was born February 23, 1929, in Campbell, Nebraska, the daughter of Edwin and Ella (Markwardt) Albers. She married Harold Gartner on May 27, 1947, in Smith Center, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2004. Together they farmed around Giltner, Roseland, and Ayr, Nebraska. She dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening and volunteering at Mary Lanning Hospital. She was a member of First St Paul's Lutheran Church. Rae was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cheryl Gartner (Stephen Colbert) of Escalon, CA, Jim (Jody) Gartner of Norfolk, NE, and Kathy (Randy) Uhrmacher of Hastings, NE; grandchildren, Sean Gartner, Adam (Erin) Gartner, Jessica (Jason) Hamilton, Matthew LaBreche, Mariah Koch, Brenna LaBreche, Derek (Stephanie) Uhrmacher, and Alex (Joan) Uhrmacher; ten great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Gerritsen of Hastings, NE; and son in law, Jim Shaw of Kearney, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Judy Shaw; sisters, Darlene, Lucille, and Betty; and brothers, Delmer and Bob.
