Marion "Sonny" D. Payne Obituary (1939

Marion "Sonny" D. Payne, 78, passed away, Friday, March 16, 2018, at his home in rural Clay County, Nebraska. Memorial service is 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 22, 2018, at All Saints Chapel in Good Samaritan Society-Hastings, Nebraska. Honoring his wish to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Sonny Payne was born April 2, 1939, in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Raymond and Helen (James) Payne. He graduated from Lawrence High School. Sonny married Shirley on April 2, 1990 in Reno, Nevada. He farmed and worked construction. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, along with camping, fishing, and hunting. Sonny is survived by his wife, Shirley Payne; children, Michael Fry and Marti (Dale) Spitz; grandchildren, Brett Kehn, TJ Sorsen, Chloe Fry, Zhoe Fry, and Kelsie Fry; brothers, Bill (Karla) Payne and Clarence (Alice) Payne; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen and Jack Achols; father, Raymond Payne; and brothers, Joe Payne and Earl Payne.
