Lyle Onken

Hastings resident Lyle Onken, 75, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings.

Memorial service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Good Samaritan Village All Saints Chapel in Hastings, with Pastor Dale Philips officiating. Inurnment will be at the Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska at a later date. In honoring Lyle's wishes to be cremated there will be no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hastings are handling arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to his family to be decided on at a later date.

Lyle Gene Onken was born July 1, 1938 in Clay Center, Nebraska, the son of John and Lena (Hinrichs) Onken. He graduated from Glenvil High School with the class of 1956. Lyle served in his county in the United States Navy. He worked as a truck driver for 32 years with Pick Pack Haller Trucking. Lyle married Linda Smith on December 16, 1969 in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Lyle is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Towns and her husband Tod of Thornton, Colorado, Cynthia Onken Glimm and her husband Craig of Parker, Colorado, and Krystal Dinslage and her husband Matt of Columbus; six Grandchildren, Dominik Towns, Keaton Towns, Nicholas Glimm, Ewan Glimm, Matthew Dinslage, and Monica Dinslage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Linda Sue Onken; sister, Karen Hinrichs; two brothers Melvin Onken and Doyle Onken.
