Linda Powell

Linda D Powell, 75, of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Memorial service will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 604 S. Burlington Ave. Inurnment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, Nebraska.
Linda was born July 27, 1951, in Martinez, California, where she grew up. While living in California, she met her first husband, Harold Lee Sr., who served in the Army, Navy, and National Guard. They were married in 1967 and together had six children, while also welcoming and loving her seventh child as his own. They later divorced in 1985.
Linda eventually met her second husband in California, and together they had a son and made their home in Hastings. Linda treasured her family above all else and was the heart and glue that held everyone together.
She especially loved family gatherings, with Christmas being one of her favorite times of the year. Linda had a special love for dragonflies and butterflies and adored animals, especially dogs, although she loved cats, too. She was a creative and talented woman who had several books published and enjoyed coloring, drawing, and singing karaoke with her family. She also loved crocheting, making beautiful blankets for her grandchildren and creating just about anything that inspired her.
Linda was known for her loving and caring heart. Her home was always open to those who needed a place to stay, and she never hesitated to help someone who had nowhere else to go. She loved her children and family more than anything in the world and made sure they always knew how much they meant to her.
Linda always seemed to have a smile on her face that seemed to glow for miles. Life brought her many difficult times, but she faced each challenge with strength and determination. She was strong, a fighter, and someone who kept moving forward no matter what life placed in her path. Her faith in God gave her strength and carried her through the hardest of times.
Linda is survived by her sons, Harold Lee Jr., Mike Lee (girlfriend, Alicia), Tim (Vicki) Lee, Gerrald Lee, and Joshua Powell; daughters, Christina Lee, Stephanie (Jason) Shockey, and Jennifer (Marco) Lopez; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Walters and Marsha Walters; brothers, Martin Walters and Kenny (Kathy) Walters; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her dog, Jasper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Powell, father, Harvey O. Walters; mother, LaVonne Nystrom Johnson; step-father, Leo Smith; brothers, Russell Smith, Mark Walters, PC Walters, and Bill Walters; grandson, Cody Utter; and her dogs, Sparky and Pepper Ann.
