Lila Lou (Avers) Gilbert Obituary (1929

Lila Lou (Avers) Gilbert 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, Nebraska. Lila's requested there be will no service. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, Nebraska. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may be directed to her family for a later designation. Lila was born September 8, 1929, to Louie & Bertha (Hammond) Avers in Davenport, NE. Lila grew up on a farm near Davenport. She attended Davenport schools and graduated from Davenport High School. It was during her time at Davenport High that she would meet her future husband, Vern Gilbert. Lila & Vern married after high school, and while married 36 years were blessed with four daughters. Lila and Vern owned and operated several bars in and around the Hastings, Nebraska area throughout their marriage, including Gilbert's Bar and The Long Branch. Lila is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Lorene (Avers) McLaughlin and Loretta (Avers) Erickson, daughters; Patricia (Gilbert) Griffith and Claudia (Gilbert) Heil, granddaughters; Paula Wolfe and Vickie (Griffith) Wood. Lila is survived by, sister; Lee Ellen (Avers) Kruger of Hastings, daughters; Dixie (Gilbert) (Brad) Kuehn and Dawn Gilbert both of Hastings, son in laws; Tom Griffith and Richard Heil both of Hastings, grandsons; Darren Heil and Brad Griffith both of Hastings, granddaughters; Denise (Heil) Carpenter of Kansas City, Missouri, Destiny (Heil) Nyberg, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Shelly (Wolfe) Weidenkeller of Wichita, Kansas, and Adriana Fragoza of Hastings, Nebraska. Seven great-grandsons, six great granddaughters, two great great granddaughters and two great great grandsons.
