Elaine W. Rottmeyer

Hastings resident Elaine W. Rottmeyer, 88, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings.

Elaine was born August 28, 1923, in Washington, Ind., the daughter of William and Lillie (Wilson) Pickett. Following high school graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy WAVES during WWII, and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, in Great Lakes, Ill. She married Harley C. Rottmeyer on March 17, 1951 at Waterloo, Iowa, Harley died November 28, 1986 in Hastings.

She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, Women of the ELCA, the Hastings Art Club, Faith Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's' Missionary League, Flat water WAVES, National WAVES, Mid-Nebraska Women Veterans, and Y.M.C.A.

Elaine is survived by four daughters, Cara Hall of Grundy Center, IA, Judy Nuzum and husband Conrad of Bluffton, OH, Debra Overly and husband Todd of Burgoon, OH, and Karrie Custard and husband Harlan of Hastings; one son, Larry Rottmeyer and wife Nancy of Fort Wayne, IN; 14 grandchildren, Brett, Brenda, Becky, Justin, Jana, Jared, Jordan, Jennica, Joe, David, Lindsay, Tim, Brad, and Melanie; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Hubert Pickett and wife Helen, Fremont Pickett and wife Mitzi, Daniel Pickett and wife Clara; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Brian; four sisters; and two brothers.

Visitation Schedule
Viewing and visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00pm, Sunday, June 17, 2012 at DeWitt Funeral Home.

Service
Funeral service is 2:00pm, Monday, June 18, 2012 at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating.

Family and Friends Gathering
Luncheon will follow graveside at Frist St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings.

Cemetery
Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with Military Honors by Hastings Veterans Burial Team.

Memorials
Memorials may be given to her family to be decided upon at a later date.
