Clifford "Cliff" B. Fisher Obituary (1934

Hastings resident Clifford "Cliff" B. Fisher, 82, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Bryan East Medical Center Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorial celebration of life service for Cliff will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at E Free Church in Hastings, NE with Pastor Matt Sass officiating. Visitation with family will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, May 15, 2017 at E Free Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Burial will be at the Omaha National Military Cemetery at a later date. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Condolences can be left at www. dewittfuneral.com. Memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation. Cliff Fisher was born May 23, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa. The son of Ira William and Dorothy Mabel (Thompson) Fisher. He attended school in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Cliff served in the U.S. Army from May 3, 1955 to October 15, 1957, during the Korean war. He had been an over the road truck driver for 35 years and taught truck driving for five years. He worked for UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska as a driver for doctors and staff between the hospitals. This is where Cliff met and married Andrea (Sowers) Magarin on April 23, 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. From there they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he became employed at Wal Mart. He designed and his friend "Goat" made the train J and D Express. It was named after his grandson Jonathon and Dylan. The family worked with Cliff and took it to events for children to ride. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 2005 and worked for Wal Mart there until retirement a couple of years ago. Cliff enjoyed studying history, doing woodworking, and drawing. Cliff is survived his wife Andrea Fisher of Hastings, NE; daughter, Laurie Langston of Hastings, NE; grandsons, Dylan Langston of Lincoln, NE and Jonathon Langston of Hastings, NE; sister, Ethel Everhart of Seagoville, TX; brothers-in-law, Laurence Sowers of Hastings, NE, and Alvin Sowers Sr. of Hutchinson, KS; nieces, Elizabeth and Edna Everhart of Seagoville, TX; nephews, Raymond and Ronald Everhart of Phoenix, AZ; along with many other nieces, nephews, and "grandchildren" Cliff adopted along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Dorothy Fisher; step-sisters; brother-in-law, Ralph Everhart; in-laws, John and Blanch Sowers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Mary Lou Sowers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Sharon and Ivan Stiegemeier; sister-in-law, Doris Sowers; brother-in-law, Kenneth Sowers; and sister-in-law, Sandra Sowers.
