Clarabelle E. Howe Obituary (1937

Hastings resident Clarabelle E. Howe, 80, died, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Harlan County Health Services in Alma, Nebraska. Clarabelle was born July 15, 1931 in Republic, Kansas, the daughter of Russell and Zella (Fisher) Hall. Clarabelle married Leo Howe on November 6, 1949. She and Leo farmed around Superior, Nebraska and started their family with two daughters, Katherine and Jody. They moved to Hastings in 1953, and shortly afterwards their daughter Cheryl was born. Clarabelle worked for Mode O'day until 1977 when they moved to Kearney. She began working for Kearney Public Schools, serving lunches and was known as "Howie" until she retired at the age of 65. Clarabelle enjoyed planting flowers, quilting, and sewing, until her back no longer permitted her to do so. She cherished the time spent with her family especially camping with them. Clarabelle is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Schutt of Grand Island, Judy Schifferns and husband Ken of Hastings, and Cheryl Huggins and husband Tom of Salina, Kansas; five grandchildren, Penny Earl and husband Jeff of Alda, Nebraska, Tina Heater and husband Jeff of Wood River, Nebraska, Brian Schifferns and wife Holli of Papillion, Nebraska, Dena Ebel and husband Jeff of Salina, Kansas, and Crystal Abbott and husband Clayton of Salina, Kansas; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson; one son-in-law; and three brothers. Visitation Schedule In honoring her wishes for cremation there will be no visitation. Service Memorial service is 11:00am, Friday, July 13, 2012 at All Saints Chapel in Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Barry J. Rempp officiating.
