Betty "Betsy" Jean Clark Obituary (1953

Betty "Betsy" Jean Clark, 64, passed away very suddenly and peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, April 23, 2017. Services will be held at a later date. In honoring her wish to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Memorials may be directed to her family for a later designation. Betsy was recovering from Orthopodic surgery, and eager to drive her car, spending Easter Sunday in Hastings with her beloved sister Jan and Ken Franzen. She was born January 22, 1953, in Superior, Nebraska to Orville and Helen Grummert. Betsy was raised on the same Nuckolls county farm where her father was born and lived his entire life. Betsy loved tending the baby chicks and goslings, as well as entering a calf through her 4-H club at the county fair each summer. Perhaps this love of animals lead Betsy to nurture and care for the sick. She was a Registered Nurse with a bachelor's degree in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary's College in Omaha, Nebraska. In December 1992 Betsy received Bergan Mercy Medical Center's Living Our Values Award. She was nominated by employees and selected by families whose loved ones she cared for in Family Home Care. Betsy's entire career was given to helping others. She married Donald Clark in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977. Betsy is survived her sister Jan (Ken) Franzen of Hastings, NE; brother, Cliff Grummert of Arcada, CA; two nieces Dr. Kimberly (Dr. Julio) Franzen-Lairet and Jody (Andres) Castrillon; two nephews, Michael (Carrie) Grummert and Matthew Grummert; grand-nephew and godson, Phoenix Castrillon and five other grand nieces and nephews in California; along with numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lila Grummert; and sister-in-law, Sherrie Grummert.
